Photography 3 (using first time Rebel Xti Canon)

Those are the pictures I took this afternoon with my newest Canon Digital Rebel Xti. I haven't bought the lens yet so that's all I got with my EF 18-55 mm lens. I should have listened to Ko Mg Mg's suggestion that take body only and then buy lens separately. Why I bought this set was that ...yesterday's afternoon, I was relaxing browsing around the camera sites, then I found the Aden Camera was now reducing the Rebel Xti down to 799 bucks, so it's like saving 200 bucks. Wow, I thought that's the big deal ever came up in the whole summer, and the time that I had been waiting for. Now here's it comes. I couldn't think of anything, put shirt and jean on, then went straight to the camera store, go like, 'I wanna buy Xti one with 'back to school special price'' the guy there was like, yeah, we got it. Then I bought it. It's end of the story of my longing to have a Rebel since 3 or 4 months ago. Now it's completed. I am quite happy now. Dude, Ko Mg Mg, I am saying thanks to you here for your valuable suggestion. Sooner or later I will go get the Cannon EF 75-300 lens. So after I left the student orientation this morning, I went straight to Chinatown to shoot around with my camera. Still unfamiliar with that yet, but hopefully I can learn very fast. So there you go. Check out my images up there and enjoy. Crits welcome.

Digital Sketch 14

Two sketches. First one is like a weird old man looking. The second one is like a man standing. I just wanted to play around with color in the second one. The first one has some photo filter effect.

Still Life 1

This is the still life drawing I did last week. I drew from the different angle, and I just want to show this photograph as how I worked with what kind of still life. The second one is close-up. I used the willow and regular charcoals.

Outside Sketch 2

Those were the sketches I did at the Dufferin Mall. I was sitting at the Cafe shop and drawing people in front of me sitting and eating.

Outside Sketch 1

Here you go my outside sketches. I didn't use any kind of reference. Everything I drew like watching real people. Some of them I did at school, some of them in the train. It's so difficult to get a figure right as people are moving when drawing. So I gotta find people who seem to be quiet, not moving usually, to draw. Especially, sitting people don't move, sometimes it's good for me when they are sleeping, you can find those in the train. Crits welcome.

Digital Sketch 12

My digital sketches. The first two were a bit old. The third one was from last week. For the first sketch, I felt bored at the time then I got an idea to draw a man who was feeling bored. For the second one, I am not the type who draw a lot of scary and bloody stuff, but I do sometimes. So I drew that, started with doodling and ended with a scary monkey. Disgusting, huh? For the third one, I used the reference. Trying to get better of my line art.

Study of Exaggeration 4 (Charcoal on paper)

I did those sketches couple of weeks ago. I found them while cleaning my drawing stuff, so I posted them on here. There's messiness in drawing, especially when I use normal 2B Charcoal stick. Usually, I use willow charcoal which can be blended and smudged by hand easily. But with this charcoal, got trouble with smudging, it got really stuck on the paper if I go harder drawing lines. I used the photo reference for those studies.
Mg Mg: Thanks for the comment. Yeah, painting is new to me while sketching is kind of my habit. I am going into commercial art, well, to say it exactly, expecting to work as a 3D animator after finished school next year.
Ma Hana: Thanks for the wish.

Well, obviously, I worked this from the photo reference. Studying tone is the point here.

My Teacher Portrait (Digital Painting 6)

Here's my teacher from my last ADFS program at Centennial College. He's the painter. His name is David McClyment. He taught Portfolio Development Course for first semester and Professional Practice Course for second semester. His biography can be view here. I took a picture of him at the final students' exhibition so then I painted him digitally with the reference of that. He's one of the best teachers I've ever met.
Thanks Tommy, Mg Mg, and Mg Ba Oo for dropping by.

Study of Exaggeration 3

This is Ayine in Caricature style. I didn't exaggerate much there though. If anything you come up with seeing this image, just feel free to tell me.
Today's public holiday. Here's a good news. I just joined the Toronto Subway Sketch Group last week and I learn a lot from other artists there. So I think my sketch of real people will be different in future like I am trying different technique that was mentioned by one of the Sketch Group fellow 'T'. He is so awesome. He helps me a lot on how to sketch. I also met Bobby there, who was the founder of the group. He's a Chinese guy, you can find his digital painting in Youtube.com. He's the greatest artist. I'm really glad becoming part of them. Alright. I will be doing good.
